Fruited Plains had the privilege of assisting Little Rock pre-school in the Kibera slums this year. Little Rock is a pre-school started by an amazing woman, Lily Oyare. The Kibera slums are the largest slums in Kenya and one of the largest in the world. Lily is working not just to give the children of Kibera an opportunity for an education, she works at assisting in transforming the lives of families. She helps women learn new skills so they can earn a living to support their family. She also has an after school program where children can come and have a safe place to study after school. You can learn more about Little Rock at www.beeclanlimited.com.
Lily
had 25 children from her school graduate last year and were ready to
start primary 1 (First grade) but lacked the money to purchase the
necessary school uniforms and books. Fruited Plains was honored to assist in meeting this need. Little Rock has a history of promoting children on to first grade who perform in the top of their class! We trust these children will continue this tradition.

The Feeding Program at Sister Freda's Cottage Hospital also continues to do well. We
had the opportunity to visit with the children and distribute the bags
of beans and maize that would be their meal for the next day. There are approximately 106 kids attending on Saturdays. The cost to make a difference in the lives of these children is only $65.00 a month! It is amazing how so little can do so much.

Fruited Plains continues to assist with the boy's home that was established in 2005. Elvis, not pictured, is now in high school and doing well. The rest of the boys continue to do well with their studies. They are truly a family and look out for one another. It is amazing to watch how caring they are towards one another. They are good friends and truly enjoy being together. We at Fruited Plains continue to be honored and humbled by the opportunity to be a part of what God is doing in the lives of the children of Kenya. What a blessing it is to be a small part of His plan for the lives of these precious ones.
