Kenya Projects
Many of our articles focus on Fruited Plains' Planting Seeds project, but in addition to providing food aid, Fruited Plains has two Kenya projects that employ citizens and educate children.

Building Hope
Fruited Plains' Building Hope project provides hope for the people of Kenya in the form of employment. Citizens in Kenya, even citizens with an education, often say they feel no hope because despite their level of intelligence or educational experience, there is simply no work. Fruited Plains' Building Hope project is a micro-enterprise that supplies small, interest free business loans to Kenya's budding entrepreneurs. Recipients of the loans have a mentor, chosen from their local church, to hold these business owners accountable, and to provide prayer and encouragement. Unlike many Kenya projects sponsored by other organizations, the Building Hope project seeks to help the people of Kenya provide for themselves.

Caring for Kids
Similarly, Fruited Plains' Caring for Kids project meets the needs of Kenya's children by working with schools and organizations based in Kenya to provide food, medical care, and school supplies. Fruited Plains provides school uniforms to families that cannot afford them, school supplies to needy schools and food through a feeding program at a cottage hospital. The Caring for Kids project enables those less fortunate children of Kenya assistance for a better future for themselves and eventually, their children.
For more information on our projects, we encourage you to see our project updates. Our August 2008 update for the Caring for Kids project explains how Fruited Plains provided assistance to a pre-school started by Lily Oyare, an amazing woman and schoolteacher. Updates are also available for the Building Hope project, and Fruited Plains' food aid project, Planting Seeds.
