Challenges, Brainstorming = Solutions

We just returned from Kenya on September 2nd and what a successful trip it was! Despite some challenges, our farmers see the impact growing and selling Passion Fruit can have on the lives of their families. They are starting to see their farms as an Agribusiness, providing a real income. We are hopeful that the youth of Mt. Elgon will see that farming is a fruitful business option and experience hope for a brighter future.

During this trip we found viable solutions to the challenges, hired a few experts to be part of the Fruited Plains team and found markets for other crops that all farmers on the mountain can grow! Although there is a huge market for Passion Fruit and it pays well, not all farmers can grow it. It is technical and requires a reliable source of water. By finding markets for vegetables the farmers already know how to grow, we can reach more farmers and help them grow quality vegetables for high end supermarkets and restaurants for income.
